4 Instances how School Life has changed in 2020

Do you still remember the days when you never really wanted to be in the school and were in the constant mood to chill inside your home? Do you remember the times when we used to act sick just to skip the blood sucking school? How much we wished that school should come to us rather than we go to the school. The collective prayers of lakhs of students might have shown wonders as the wish we made years ago have finally come true. The school life, those gullible backbencher moments , the lunch period which was full of gossips have seized for a while now. The concept of education has taken a different turn in 2020.

So here are four instances on how the school life has changed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation which has the whole world under its grasp.

1. The fundamental idea of education was to make students sit inside a four walled room and make them learn about various things and life lessons. But the recent situation of Covid-19 has completely snatched away this physical existance of a learning environment and has forced the students to sit in front of a device for a stretch of 8 hours leaving the children as well as the teachers dreary.

2. The teaching methods inside a classroom with all the students present at one place was completey different before 2020 happened. These methods involved various physical experiments, activities, field trips etc to make the students better understand their lessons. This kind of teaching method is not only helpful for gaining knowledge, but also builds an interpersonal relationship among the students also provides them a little break from the boring and conventional teaching methods. But 2020 has brought forth among the students an educational doom which is tightening its knot around their necks. 8 hours of online class is depriving the students from gaining practical knowledge and also making them not take their regular lectures seriously. Even the teachers are finding it difficult to engage with them in any informal conversation due to the barrier of physical communication making the classes all the more disasterous.

3. However before the pandemic, there was already an increase in the use of digital platforms in the world of education beginning with the introduction of smart class in almost every school. Apart from this, many platforms like the BYJU’S  a Bangalore-based educational technology and online tutoring firm founded in 2011 was already functioning as an online classroom system. UNACADEMY also took on to prepare aspiring students for various government jobs and entrance exams. Thus, the overturning of the educational system into a complete online education system is nothing new in the 21st century.

4. While some believe that the unplanned and rapid move to online learning – with no training, insufficient bandwidth, and little preparation – will result in a poor user experience that is unconducive to sustained growth, others believe that a new hybrid model of education will emerge, with significant benefits. the integration of information technology in education will be further accelerated and that online education will eventually become an integral component of school education.
